Each home is definetly different when I Go into a home and a customer tells me what theywant to do for flooring, or countertops, or any other kind of tile.
It is important that I clearly know what they want first, before I even begin to answer.
They are not asking me If this is your home what would you do? They are asking, in my experience, if i can elaborate on the idea that they already have. "If i do tile in this room, would I do it in this room?" "Would you suggest a border tile or a design?" "How do you think that will look?" In my experience it is best to visualize exaclty what the customer wants first, then If they want the professional design aspec, I give them the best in my opinion. I always give options.
Tile in your home can be a pretty major thing, something you don't do everyday, onot even every year. Patterns and designs, can be constistant for one room or one kitchen, and be different in the rest of the house to make that room memorable, and stand out.

your shower pan is different tile than the rest of your bathroom. You want to match the colors and grout to make it look nice. Shower pans should be level and drain properly.
Any tile flooring project should come out level and be even (the spacing in between the tiles should be the same) throughout the floor. Your grout lines should stay the same size, and during the design, process, know your options with grout color.
